Safety Instructions for the Use of LPG Gas Cylinders

1. Introduction

This document outlines the safety instructions for the proper use, handling, and storage of LPG gas cylinders. By purchasing or using LPG cylinders from Laughtons Gas ("the Company"), you acknowledge and agree to follow these instructions and absolve the Company, its directors, employees, and agents from any liability arising from improper use, handling, or storage of LPG cylinders.

2. General Safety Precautions

  • Always store LPG cylinders in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials.
  • Do not store cylinders in basements or other low-lying areas where gas leaks may accumulate and create a fire hazard.
  • Ensure cylinders are stored upright and securely fastened to prevent tipping.
  • Regularly inspect the cylinder, valve, and regulator for signs of damage or wear.
  • Never use a damaged or corroded cylinder. Contact the Company immediately for assistance with replacements.

3. Usage Instructions

  • Always use the appropriate regulator and hose for your LPG cylinder, ensuring they comply with safety standards.
  • Check all connections for leaks before use by applying soapy water to the connection points. If bubbles form, there is a leak. Do not use the cylinder until the leak is repaired.
  • Never attempt to repair a leaking or damaged cylinder yourself. Contact the Company or a certified technician.
  • Use LPG cylinders only in well-ventilated areas to prevent the accumulation of gas in enclosed spaces.
  • Turn off the gas supply at the cylinder valve when not in use.

4. Emergency Procedures

  • In the event of a gas leak:
    • Do not use any electrical switches or appliances that could create a spark.
    • Extinguish all open flames and evacuate the area immediately.
    • Close the cylinder valve if it is safe to do so.
    • Contact emergency services and the Company for assistance.
  • If a fire occurs, do not attempt to extinguish it unless trained to do so. Contact emergency services immediately.

5. Transportation Guidelines

  • Secure the cylinder in an upright position during transportation.
  • Do not transport LPG cylinders in the passenger compartment of a vehicle.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation during transportation to prevent the buildup of gas.
  • Follow all local laws and regulations regarding the transportation of LPG cylinders.

6. Indemnity Clause

By purchasing or using LPG cylinders provided by the Company, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Laughtons Gas, its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, or losses arising from:

  • Failure to adhere to the safety instructions provided in this document.
  • Unauthorized modifications to the cylinder, valve, regulator, or other equipment.
  • Improper storage, handling, or transportation of LPG cylinders.
  • Accidents or incidents resulting from the misuse of LPG cylinders.

7. Limitation of Liability

  • The Company is not liable for any damages, injuries, or losses caused by the improper use, handling, or storage of LPG cylinders.
